  1. ལྟས།

    [lit. omen]

    Biblical: miraculous sign, authenticating miracle: ཁྱེད་​ལས་​ལྟས་​ཤིག་​མཐོང་​བར་​འདོད་​དོ། we want to see a miraculous sign from you (Mt. 12:38), ནམ་​མཁའ་​ནས་​ལྟས་​ཤིག་​སྟོན། show a sign from heaven (Mt. 16:1), ལྟས་​དང་​ངོ་​མཚར་​ཆེ་​བ་​མང་​པོ་​བསྟན་​ཏོ། many wonders and miraculous signs were done (Acts 2:43), མཐུ་​ཆེ་​བ་​དང་​། ངོ་​མཚར་​དང་​། ལྟས། miracles, wonders, and signs (Acts 2:22).

  2. རྟགས།

    [lit. sign, token, mark]

    Biblical: sign, symbol, portent: དུས་​ཀྱི་​མཐའ་​མའི་​རྟགས། the sign of the end of the age (Mt. 24:3), མིའི་​བུའི་​མངོན་​རྟགས། the sign of the Son of Man (Mt. 24:30), ཉི་​མ་​དང་​ཟླ་​བ་​དང་​སྐར་​མའི་​ནང་​ལ་​རྟགས་​འབྱུང་​འོང་​། there will be signs in the sun, moon and stars (Lk. 21:25), སྐད་​གཞན་​རྣམས་​དད་​པ་​ཅན་​གྱི་​ཕྱིར་​མིན་​པར་​དད་​མེད་​རྣམས་​ཀྱི་​ཕྱིར་​རྟགས་​སུ་​ཡིན། tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers (1 Cor. 14:22).

    Buddhist: 1) རྟགས། sign or mark, e.g the characteristics that distinguish a people group; e.g. the རྟགས། of Europeans is considered to be a big nose (AMD), མཁས་​པའི་​རྟགས། a sign of skill (KPU 14), འབྱོངས་​རྟགས། the sign of having studied (UCO 149); 2) male or female reproductive organs are also called རྟགས། (AMD); 3) in Bst. logic, རྟགས། is reason: རྟགས་​ཡག་​དག་​གསུམ། three correct reasons (TRI 108); 4) ཆུ་​རྟགས། [lit. urine signs] a test in traditional Tibetan medicine (TMB 23); 5) མིང་​རྟག signature (TDC 1065); 6) རྒྱལ་​རྟག national emblem (TDC 1065); 7) གླེན་​རྟག [idiot + sign] stupidity (TDC 1065); 8) རང་​རྟག [own + sign] intrinsic characteristics (TDC 1065).
