Biblical: person, self: ང་ཚོའི་གང་ཟག་རྙིང་པ། our old self (Rom. 6:6,7), གང་ཟག་གསར་པ་འགོད་པ་པོའི་དབྱིབས་སུ་གསར་དུ་མཛད་པ་དེ་གྱོན་ཞིག put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator (Col. 3:10 SV).
Buddhist: 1) According to Bst. psychology, man does not have an enduring self or soul, but is literally "self-less", a doctrine called གང་ཟག་གི་བདག་མེད། the selflessness of persons (CNG 5). མ་རིག་པ་ནི། ལས་རྒྱུ་འབྲས་ལ་སོགས་པ་མི་ཤེས་པའི་རྨོངས་པ་དང་། གང་ཟག་གི་བདག་ཏུ་འཛིན་པ། ignorance is the darkness of not knowing about karma, or holding to a self of persons [i.e. believing that persons have a permanent self or soul] (TRC 284); 2) person, individual: གང་ཟག་དེ་ལ་སྐྱེས་བུ་ཆེན་པོ་ཟེར་གྱི་ཡོད་པ་རེད། that person is called the great individual (TRC 218), ཐར་པ་དོན་དུ་གཉེར་བའི་གང་ཟག a person striving for deliverance (TRC 286).
Biblical: self: བདག་ཉིད་ཀྱི་མཚན་གསར་པ་འབྲི་བར་བྱའོ། I will write on him my own new name (Rev. 3:12).
Buddhist: essence: དབང་བཞིའི་བདག་ཉིད་བླ་མ་སྤྱན་རས་གཟིགས། the essence of the four empowerments [is] Chenresi (HTE 184).
Proverbs: བདག་ཉིད་དུལ་ན་གཞན་རྣམས་འདུལ། བདག་ཉིད་ཁོ་ན་གདུལ་བར་དཀའ། when you have disciplined yourself, then tame others; the one hard to subdue is yourself (DMP 82).
