  1. བརྣབ་​སེམས།

    Biblical: greed, covetousness: བརྣབ་​སེམས་​ཀྱི་​རིགས་​ཐམས་​ཅད་​ལས་​བག་​ཟོན་​བྱོས་​ཤིག be on your guard against all kinds of greed (Lk. 12:15).

    Buddhist: The desire to have someone else's wealth; greed, envy, or covetousness; one of the ten non-virtues (AMD & KTM): བརྣབ་​སེམས་​ཟེར་​བ་​ནི། གཞན་​གྱི་​ཅ་​ལག་​མཐོང་​དུས་​དེ་​ང་​ལ་​བྱུང་​ན་​སྙམ་​པ་​ལྟ་​བུའི་​སེམས་​གཞན་​གྱི་​ཡོ་​བྱད་​ལ་​ཆགས་​པའི་​ཆ་​གཅིག་​ལ་​ཟེར། covetousness signifies the portion of the mind which longs for another's possessions with the thought "would it were mine" at the time of seeing another's possessions (TRC 245), ཡིད་​ཀྱི་​མི་​དགེ་​བ་​གསུམ་​ནི། བརྣབ་​སེམས། གནོད་​སེམས། ལོག་​ལྟ་​བཅས་​རེད། the three non-virtues of mind are covetousness, the wish to injure, and wrong view (TRC 242).

    Proverbs: གཞན་​གྱི་​ནོར་​ལ་​བརྣབ་​སེམས་​སྤང་​། རང་​གི་​ནོར་​ལ་​གྲོན་​ཆུང་​གྱིས། abandon greed for others' wealth by spend little on yourself (KTM).

  2. སྲེད་​པ།

    Biblical: to desire strongly, be greedy for, or crave: རྐུན་​མ་​དང་​། སྲེད་​ལྡན་​དང་​། ར་​རོས། thieves or the greedy or drunkards (1 Cor. 6:10), ནོར་​ལྷ་​བསྟེན་​པའི་​འདོད་​སྲེད་​ཅན། one who is greedy for money (Eph. 5:5).

    Buddhist: see covet.

  3. སེར་​སྣ།

    Biblical: greed, desire for money: སེར་​སྣ་​ཅན་​དང་​ཆོམ་​པོ། greedy people and swindlers (1 Cor. 5:10 SV), ལོག་​གཡེམ་​དང་​མི་​ཚངས་​པར་​སྤྱོད་​པ་​དང་​། སེར་​སྣ་​ཅན། immoral, impure or greedy people (Eph. 5:5 SV), འདོད་​པ་​ངན་​པ་​དང་​། སེར་​སྣ། evil desires and greed (Col. 3:5 SV).

    Buddhist: miserliness (KBT 22) or stinginess, སེར་​སྣ་​དང་​ཕངས་​སེམས་​སོགས་​གང་​ཡང་​མེད་​པར། without any stinginess or parsimony (TRC 346).

  4. ཧམ་​པ།

    Biblical: greediness, covetousness: མི་​ཚངས་​པར་​སྤྱོད་​དམ། ཧམ་​པ་​ཅན་​ཡིན། one who is sexually immoral or greedy (1 Cor. 5:11 SV), རྐུན་​མ་​དང་​། ཧམ་​པ་​ཅན་​དང་​། ཆང་​འདོད་​ཅན། thieves or the greedy or drunkards (1 Cor. 6:10 SV).
