  1. སྐུ་​ཚབ།

    [lit. hon. + substitute]

    Biblical: an honorific term for any representative (AMD); used by the Apostle Paul as a metaphor for his apostolic office: ལྕགས་​སྒྲོག་​གིས་​བཅིངས་​པའི་​སྐུ་​ཚབ། an ambassador in chains (Eph. 6:20).

    Buddhist: དགའ་​ལྡན་​ཁྲི་​པ་​ཞུ་​བ་​ནི། རྗེ་​ཚོང་​ཁ་​པའི་​སྐུ་​ཚབ་​མཛད། the occupier of the Ganden throne represents (སྐུ་​ཚབ་​མཛད།) the lord Tsong Khapa (TRC 53).

    Secular: ཀྲུང་​དབྱང་​མི་​དམངས་​སྲིད་​གཞུང་​གི་​སྐུ་​ཚབ་​བོད་​དུ་​ཕེབས། representatives of the Central Peoples' Government came to Tibet.

    Cognates: 1) རྒྱལ་​ཚབ། regent, crown prince; 2) སྦྱིན་​བདག་​གི་​ཚབ་​བྱས་​སོ། [I] acted in place of the owner (DPD); 3) ཕ་​ཚབ་​མ་​ཚབ། houseparents, foster parents (DPD); གཞུང་​ཚབ། (ETD 19) or གཞུང་​ཚབ་​གི་​མི་​སྣ། (DBG 31) diplomatic representative.

    Biblical: a messenger: ང་​ཚོ་​ནི་​མ་​ཤི་​ཀའི་​ཚབ་​ཏུ་​ཕོ་​ཉ་​ཡིན། we are therefore Christ's ambassadors (2 Cor. 5:20 SV). See angel.

  3. སྒྲོག་​པོ།

    Biblical: one who preaches or proclaims: སྒྲོག་​པོ་​ལྕགས་​སྒྲོག་​གིས་​བཀྱིགས་​པ་​ཞིག་​ཡིན། I am an ambassador in chains (Eph. 6:20 SV).

    Secular: སྒྲོག་​པ། to tell, proclaim: སྟོང་​གསུམ་​ཁྱབ་​པར་​སྒྲོག་​པར་​བྱེད་​ན་​ཡང་​། even if [news of] it has been told to three thousand others (GSL 14).
