Buddhist: 1) Offerings མཆོད་པ། are of two kinds: a) ordinary or material offerings; b) immaterial or imaginary offerings (JPG 73). Common material offerings include "display offerings" such as bowls of water, flowers, incense, and butter lamps (TRI 83); when offered these are called མཆོད་པའི་ཡོ་བྱད། . Immaterial offerings include: ཞབས་བྱི་ཤུ། personal service, བརྩི་བཀུར་བྱེད། honor or esteem, གུས་ཞབས་ཤུ། respect, བསྟོད་པ་ཕུལ། praise, གཏང་རག་འབུལ། thanksgiving, or སྒྲུབ་པའི་མཆོད་པ། religious practice; and in addition, mental or imaginary offerings can be made of flowers, gardens, mountains, and other owned or unowned objects. Offerings may be made to the three jewels, to lamas, or to images of gods or boddhisattvas: རྒྱལ་པོ་ཟས་གཙང་གིས་ཡར་དཀོན་མཆོག་མཆོད་པ་ཕུལ། King Setsang made offerings to god (SGN 1), དེ་ལ་མཆོད་པ་ཕུལ་བ་དོན་མེད་ཡིན། making offerings to them is pointless (DPD), འོ་འབྲས་ཀྱི་མཆོད་པ། an offering of milk and rice (SGN 10), མེའི་མཆོད་པ། a fire-offering (SGN 13); 2) worship, worship service: མཆོད་པའི་གནས། an object of worship (TRC 112), བོད་མི་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ཕྱག་མཆོད་ཀྱི་གནས། an object of veneration of the Tibetan people (TRC 113), མཆོད་པ་དང་བཀུར་སྟི་བཟང་པོ་མཛད། [the king] offered worship and homage (TRC 114), དཀོན་མཆོག་ལ་སྐྱབས་སུ་འགྲོ་བ་དང་། ཕྱག་མཆོད། སྦྱིན་གཏོང་། going to the three jewels for refuge, worship, and donation (TRC 217). The offering of animal sacrifice as depicted in the Bible སེམས་ཅན་བསད་པའི་ཤ་ཁྲག་གིས་མཆོད་སྦྱིན་བྱེད་པ། (TRC 96) are offensive in Bsm. (see sacrifice).
