Biblical: ministry, service: བཀའ་སྒྲོག་པའི་ཞབས་ཏོག the ministry of [preaching] the word (Acts 6:4), ཉིད་ཀྱི་ཞབས་ཏོག་གི་སྒོ་ནས། through his ministry (Acts 21:19), ཐུགས་ཉིད་ཀྱི་ཞབས་ཏོག the ministry of the Spirit (2 Cor. 3:8), སྡུམ་པ་འདིའི་ཞབས་ཏོག the ministry of reconciliation (2 Cor. 5:18).
Buddhist: ཞབས་ཏོག is service offered to the monk body or one's spiritual teacher in order to show honor or respect. Such service may include material offerings, actual physical service, or offering one's religious practice - the so-called ཞབས་ཏོག་རྣམ་གསུམ། or threefold service (TRI 229). ཞབས་བྱི་ཤུ། offering service [to the monks] (KTM), བྲམ་ཟེ་དང་སློབ་དཔོན་མང་པོས་གཞོན་ནུ་དོན་གྲུབ་ལ་གུས་བསུ་དང་། སྣེ་ལེན། ཞབས་ཏོག་རྒྱ་ཆེན་པོ་ཞུས། many Brahmins and teachers greeted [the Buddha] and offered him generous hospitality and service (SGN 9).
