  1. གཙོ་​བོ།

    Biblical: 1) lord, an honorific title applied to God and Jesus: གཙོ་​བོ་​ཡེ་​ཤུ། the Lord Jesus (Mk. 16:19), རང་​གི་​དཀོན་​མཆོག་​གཙོ་​བོ། the Lord your God (Mt. 4:10), ང་​ལ་​གཙོ་​བོ་​ལགས། གཙོ་​བོ་​ལགས། ཟེར་​མཁན། those who say to me "Lord, Lord" (Mt. 7:21), གཙོ་​བོའི་​གཡོག་​མོ། the Lord's servant (Lk. 1:38); 2) chief, leader, or prince: འགོང་​པོའི་​གཙོ་​བོ། the prince of demons (Mt.9:34).

    Buddhist: 1) an honorific applied to accomplished Bst. masters: གཙོ་​བོ་​རྗེ་​བཙུན་​མི་​ལ་​རས་​པ། the venerable lord Milarepa (TRC 137); 2) chief, main, best, principal: ཉོན་​མོངས་​པ་​དེ་​ཚོ་​ཐམས་​ཅད་​ཀྱི་​རྩ་​བ་​དང་​གཙོ་​བོ། the root and chief of all the passions (TRC 285), ནོར་​ཀུན་​གྱི་​གཙོ་​བོ། the best of all wealth (SGN 16), པན་​ཆེན་​རིན་​པོ་​ཆེ་​མཆོག་​གི་​གདན་​ས་​གཙོ་​བོ། the main residence of the Panchen Lama (MHP 8), ལམ་​གྱི་​གཙོ་​བོ་​རྣམ་​པ་​གསུམ། the three principal aspects of the path (CNG 22).

  2. ཇོ་​བོ།

    Biblical: 1) lord, an honorific title applied to God or Jesus: དེས་​ཇོ་​བོ། ཡིད་​ཆེས་​ལགས་​ཞུས། "Yes, Lord, we believe" (Mt. 9:28), ཇོ་​བོ་​ལགས། དེ་​མ་​སྲིད་​ཅིག "Never, Lord" (Mt. 16:22), ཀྱེ་​ཇོ་​བོ། "O Lord" (Lk. 2:29), རིན་​གྱིས་​བླུས་​པའི་​ཇོ་​བོ། the Lord who ransomed them (2 Pet. 2:1); 2) other spiritual powers or authorities: ལྷ་​དང་​ཇོ་​བོ་​མང་​པོ་​ཡོད། there are many "gods" and many "lords" (1 Cor. 8:5).

    Buddhist: lord; an honorific used of Bst. teachers and of the Buddha himself, or occasionally of their images: ཇོ་​བོ་​རྗེ་​དཔལ་​ལྡན་​ཨ་​ཏི་​ཤ། the lord Atisha (TRC 152), ཇོ་​བོ་​ཤ་​ཀྱ་​མུ་​ནི། the lord Shakyamuni [Buddha] (DPD) or his image (TRI 85).

  3. བདག་​པོ།

    Biblical: master, owner, lord: སྟོན་​ཐོག་​གི་​བདག་​པོ། the Lord of the harvest (Mt. 9:38), བདག་​པོའི་​ལྕོག་​ཙེ། the masters' table (Mt. 15:27).

    Buddhist: master, owner: དགེ་​ལུགས་​པའི་​བསྟན་​པའི་​བདག་​པོ། the master of the Gelugpa teachings (TRC 53), ཚིག་​གི་​བདག་​པོ། master of words (LKT 4), ངང་​པའི་​བདག་​པོ། the owner of the goose (SGN 4), སྨན་​ཁང་​དེའི་​བདག་​པོ། the owner of the hospital (DPD), ཁྱི་​ངན་​སྨྱོ་​ཡང་​བདག་​པོ་​ངོས་​ཀྱིས་​འཛིན། even if a dog becomes mad, it still knows its master (KPU 33).

  4. མགོན།

    [or མགོན་​པོ།]

    Biblical: lord ངེད་​མགོན་​ཡེ་​ཤུ། our Lord Jesus (Eph. 1:3).

    Buddhist: 1) མགོན། is a patron or savior (AMD); 2) a member of a class of fierce tantric or Bon gods or spirits who are considered guardians of Bsm. (SGC 121); 3) a title applied to major figures in Bsm: རྗེ་​བཙུན་​བྱམས་​མགོན། the venerable savior Maitreya Buddha (TRC 24), རྩ་​བའི་​བླ་​མ་​མགོན་​པོ་​སྤྱན་​རས་​གཟིགས། the root teacher, lord Chenresi (HTE 180), འཇམ་​མགོན་​བླ་​མ་​ཙོང་​ཁ་​པ་​ཆེན་​པོ། the venerable Tshong Khapa (DPD), སེམས་​ཉིད་​མགོན། the lord of mind nature (HTE 186).
