Buddhist: Geshe Lhundup Sopa defines ལོག་གཡེམ། as: ལོག་གཡེམ་ནི། རང་གི་ཆུང་མ་མ་ཡིན་པ་གཞན་གྱིས་བདག་ཏུ་བཟུང་བའི་ཆུང་མ་ལ་སོགས་པ་དང་། རང་གི་ཆུང་མ་ཡིན་ཡང་། དུས་མ་ཡིན་པ་སྦྲུམ་མ་དང་། བསྙེན་གནས་ལ་སོགས་པའི་སྐབས་དང་། ལམ་མ་ཡིན་པ་དབད་པོའི་སྒོ་གཞན་དང་། གནས་མ་ཡིན་པ་མཆོད་རྟེན་ལ་སོགས་པའི་དྲུང་དུ་འཁྲིག་པ་སྤྱོད་པ་ལྟ་བུ་ལ་ཟེར། . . sexual misconduct signifies the performance of the sexual act not with one's own wife but a wife held by another as his, etc. or even with one's own wife at an inappropriate time like during the pregnancy, the one day vow, etc. or through an inappropriate avenue (i.e. another aperture than customary) or at an inappropriate place like in front of a stupa, etc. (TRC 244), ལུས་ཀྱི་མི་དགེ་བ་གསུམ་ནི། སྲོག་གཅོད་པ། མ་བྱིན་པར་ལེན་པ། ལོག་གཡེམ་བཅས་རེད། the three non-virtues of body are killing, stealing, and adultery (TRC 242), སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱིས་གཞན་ལ་གནོད་པ་སྤོང་བ་དང་། གཞན་གྱི་ནོར་མི་རྐུ་བ། རྫུན་མི་ཤོད་པ་དང་། ལོག་གཡེམ་སྤོང་བ་བཅས་ནི་ཆོས་ཀྱི་སྲུང་སྡོམ་ཡིན། the Buddha [teaches that] not harming others, not stealing, not lying, and not committing adultery (or sexual misconduct) sums up the keeping of the doctrine (SGN 21).

Biblical: commit adultery: 1) physical adultery: ལོག་གཡེམ་མ་བྱེད། do not commit adultery (Mt. 5:27), ལོག་གཡེམ་བྱེད་མུར་བཟུང་བའི་བུད་མེད་ཅིག a woman caught in adultery (Jn. 8:3); 2) spiritual adultery: འདོད་ཆགས་སྐྱེས་ཏེ་བུད་མེད་ཅིག་ལ་ལྟ་བ་དེས་ཀྱང་སྙིང་ནང་དེ་མཉམ་དུ་ལོག་གཡེམ་བྱས་ཟིན། one who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart (Mt. 5:28); 3) national unfaithfulness to God: རྡོ་དང་ཤིང་མཉམ་དུའང་ལོག་གཡེམ་བྱས། committed adultery with stone and wood (Jer. 3:9).
