  1. ལམ།

    Biblical: path, road, often used metaphorically: གསོན་​པ་​ཉིད་​ལམ། the path of life (Ps. 16:11), ཁ་​གཅིག་​ལམ་​ཁར་​འགྲིལ་​ཏེ། some fell by the path [lit. road side] (Mt. 13:4), ཞི་​བདེའི་​ལམ། the path of peace (Lk. 1:78).

    Buddhist: Bst. doctrine and practice: 1) as a whole: ཡང་​དག་​པའི་​ལམ། the perfect path to enlightenment which the Buddha found (KTM), ཁོང་​རྣམས་​ལ་​སངས་​རྒྱས་​ཀྱི་​གོ་​འཕང་​རིན་​པོ་​ཆེ་​ཐོབ་​པའི་​ཆེད་​ཡང་​དག་​པའི་​ལམ་​བཟང་​བསྟན་​པར་​མཛད། [the Buddha] taught them the perfect way so that they could reach the exalted state of Buddhahood (KTM); 2) particular doctrines or practices: འཕགས་​པའི་​ལམ་​ཡན་​ལག་​བརྒྱད། the eightfold path (KBT 60); ལམ་​གྱི་​བདེན་​པ། truths which are paths, the fourth of the four truths as formulated in Tibetan Bsm. (KBT 96).
